What is this project?

Aurora's Harbor is a world building project that shamelessly borrows from Chelouranya (Aristasia post Bridgehead), Aria, and other science fantasy works that have been blended together. This work is purely fictional and meant to be a bit of silly dabbling on my part. It is also not affaliated with any other Aristasian project, past or present.

Finally, this is a very new project that will be slowly built up over time. So there will be missing information and possibly some contradictions (although I will try to catch those). The main story is Beatrice's Diary but I will also use letters to her from others, news clippings, and other ephemera to flesh things out and give some other points of view. I will be creating character sheets for main characters and give some basic info on this page but the rest of the worldbuilding will be in the story.

Worldbuilding Details

Authors Note: this is currently very messy and incomplete. I plan on adding more over time and eventually organizing it. But for now it's a mess.

Aurora's Harbor the place is the capital of the great Neo-Novarian Principality: an absolute monarchy that exists on the planet Marine, called because 85% of the world is ocean. The land is small islands and atolls... too many to count. Aurora's Harbor was an atoll but over time her people have built her out so that the city is large, the largest in the Empire. They have recently discovered (or re-discovered) space travel and have learned that they were a colony from a larger empire that had long ago collapsed. They are slowly reintegrating themselves with other colonies and even other species but currently no one who isn't Neo-Novarian is allowed on the planet's surface.

It should be noted here that there is no evidence that this world had intelligent life before the Neo-Novarian Principality arrived. There are those who suspect that this world was terraformed by the Neo-Novarian ancestors but others think the life was already here.

Religion is polytheistic goddessian. The main Goddess is The Sun Queen (real name a secret) and her twin Lady Marina (goddess of both oceans in general and the plant).

The culture of the Neo-Novarians is very humanities focused... everyone learns the basic humanities as a child and are encouraged to continue throughout adulthood in their preferred arts. They are a collectivist society and everyone belongs to one or more groups: family, company, ship, military, temple, etc. Taxes are levied on the group (exception for military because their taxes is their work): not the individual and most laws deal also deal with the group rather than the individual (individuals are mostly ruled directly by their group).
